Bus Stop by James A. Dixon | Charcoal on paper
Location:
Heartshake Studios (2627 W. Colorado Ave.)

My artwork aims to convey to its audience a sense of inevitability. It should shout out to the viewer, “What took you so long to get here?”

While this piece’s title and subject matter reflect the pedestrian rituals of pre-COVID urban life, to me, it pivots towards the unmistakable possibilities that humankind was designed to live peacefully together. As I approach my fifth decade as a practicing artist, I am more than ever persuaded that the arts will continue to provide a vital function as a vehicle of expression for “free thinkers” in postmodern American society. My aspiration is to present alternative options to interpret the world we live in.
